Are we Ready to die ?
Many of you might be annoyed, or dislike it and may be think that I am talking a bit pessimistically, as many of us live in the impression that we are too young to die. And we have enough time to repent, and to set our affairs right. That is not the case. Even single second of our life is not guaranteed. I continuously ask questions to myself concering death.
"Suppose you learn today that you have only one more day to live; you’ll die tomorrow. How will you spend your last day?"

Death is the most certain aspect of life. According to the statistics, 6178 people die in the world every hour (has to be verified but it is close to that). These are people of all ages, dying of various causes. Some of these deaths will make headlines. A great majority will die quietly. Yet everyone will enter his grave the same way. Alone. At the time appointed by God. Science and technology can neither prevent nor predict death. It is solely in the hands of the Creator.

"O mankind! If you are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then lo! We have created you from dust, then from a drop of seed, then from a clot, then from a little lump of flesh shapely and shapeless, that We may make it clear for you. And We cause what We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed time, and afterward We bring you forth as infants, then give you growth that you attain full strength. And among you there is he who dies young, and among you there is he who is brought back to the most abject time of life, so that after knowledge he knows naught!"[Al-Haj 22:5]

We see it happening all the time. Yet it is amazing how we feel that it won’t happen to us, we act like an ostrich which on facing death, bury his head into the ground. We keep convincing ourselves, that we have enough time. We bury our own friends and relatives but think that we’ll live forever or at least pretend to be like this. Our attitudes about death defy all logic. In a way we recognize it and even plan for it. We take out life insurance policies. We may do estate planning. Businesses and governments have contingency plans to carry out their operations in case f sudden loss of their leaders. But this is recognition of death as an end point of this life. Where we fail is in recognizing it as the beginning of another life that will never end and where we’ll reap what we sow here.

Remembering death is the antidote for that deception. A person who remembers that he will have to stand before his Creator and be accountable for his actions simply cannot defy God

In the story of Pharaoh, we learn that when he saw death approaching to him he declared belief in the God of Moses. Before that he had been fooled by his apparent power and might. His repentance came too late but it did show how his arrogance and intransigence evaporated when faced with the certainty of death.

All of us will face death one day, our hearts will stop, our brain activity will stop and our bodies will decompose. However as Muslims we know that death is not the end. Allah (swt) has informed us thatthere is life after death, that we will be accounted for every action we performed and will be either sent to Jannah (paradise) or Jahannam (Hellfire) according to our deeds.
For a Muslim reminding oneself of death strengthens our realisation of the afterlife and commitment to Islam.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “The clever one is he who disciplined himself and worked for what is after death, and the feeble one is he who followed his desires, then made (vain) prayers to Allah”.

Personally… and no offense… I think you’re being a little bit dramatic! I mean… yes we are all going to die but most people live a good life and/or know they’re going to die soon so they prepare for it. A very small amount die from a stroke or heart attack and an even smaller number die at an early age. I think that people should accept death and deal with it.
And don’t get yourself all worried. Live your life at its fullest and never look back!

I agree with you. One thing I learned, "Live and spend your time as if it’s your last day on earth."
By this, we can spend every second responsibly with respect for other people, doing good deeds and worshiping ALLAH. The angel of death might arrive in any minute and we should be prepared. The reason why we are always scared is because we know the weight of our sins compared to our good deeds. And no one can escape the time where death will overtake him. We should always remind ourselves of death and fear nothing but only ALLAH.
Suppose today will be my last day, I would like to spend it asking forgiveness from the people around me, reading the words of ALLAH (Noble Qur’an) and pray pray pray until my last breathe, with the words in my lips testifying that there is no God but ALLAH.
Assalamu alaikom.

People are of three kinds when it comes to death:
1- They do not give the idea any thought and will quickly dismiss it. Those are people astray.
2- The repenters : They are not afraid of death but they want to have more time to fix their past sins and mistakes.
3- People of understanding: They cannot wait for death as they know this life is not worth it and they cant wait to meet their creator.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah. Thanks for your remembering us about death. All alive creatures will die on a certain time as stated by Allah swt in the Qur’an.If the time for death has been decided by Allah it could not be delayed or make it faster just for a second..Izroil angel will come to us on the right time for taking out our souls as instructed by Allah swt whether we are babies, young people, mature people or very old people.Death could not make any diffetrence but its cause and its time will be different..That is why we should be ready at any time if Allah calls us to die.,although we do not like it..The soul is given by Allah swt and on the right time it will come back to Allah as its owner or we usually say" inna lillahi wa inna illaihi roji’un" No one knows when he/she will die so we should make our agreement or promise with others by saying insya Allah or if Allah gives us Allah’s permission to realize it.We could not be arrogant because we have no power at all so we should say "la haula wala quwata ilabillahi aliyul adheem" We should ask for Allah’s forgiveness each time we made wrong doings ,repent and promise that we would not do the same mistakes everyday because we do not know when we will die.We should avoid the case just like Fir’aun king who made recognization of Allah’s existence but he was too late so Allah regarded him as kafir and he will be burnt in the hell with very hot fire eternally.

Death is merely an illusion. Our fates will soon catch up with us. You just have to face the fact that death comesto us all. Death is the final test of life. The hardest test in fact. What u do in the test of life reflects on your after life.Rather the results of your test. Leading to either Heaven or hell. How u do on the test of life will decide your future in your after life. Think clearly of your actions and reflect on your past. Do you think your doing good? Ask youtself that vvery question. Death is somthing to be feared. Still you shouldnt concern yourself. Just focus on your life and do what you think is right.
For the great test of life is mysterious.
