I lived in Zimbabwe for a while during the 90s and after getting into contact with a few white Zimbabweans I had known whilst I was there, it became apparent that they had made "in case of emergency plans." These plans included storing foreign currency in foreign bank accounts, investing in foreign businesses, buying homes abroad and making contacts in other countries. The ones I knew seem to have been able to move country and still maintain a very good standard of living because of this. Is this the same for white south africans?

Try to avoid accusing people of racism or hurling racist insults, I just want answers to a genuine question thanks

Well, the reality is that in certain departments there has been a decline in SA over the past 15 years, crime, unemployment, hiv/aids, corruption, bribery and nepotism in government are the major ones and for most of that time AA/ BB BEE has also been a reality.

The majority of whites have stayed and a number have left ( and no one can give accurate statistics on how many), and I am sure that a number more would already have left if they were able to, Res has made some valid points, it is not easy or simplistic to emigrate.

So, I believe that a number of whites still living in SA do have some contingency plans, I know a few, but they are in the minority and the majority who have stayed either are unable to or have decided that irrespective of what happens they will remain in the country they love.

Having said this, everyone has a threshold, and when it is reached most people turn to "where there is a will there is a way" mode, so as the situation in a country deterorates so will people reach their threshold and make contingency plans, not unique to SA either.

Last point is that many in our country are struggling to survive never mind even thinking about contingency plans, they are more concerned about their next plate of food.

By the way, not only whites have left the country and not only whites have contingency plans for the future.
