FalconStor data protection solutions are certified with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager. This video will demonstrate how FalconStor Network Storage Server (NSS) integrates with VMware Site Recovery Manager for automated resumption of IT operations at the primary data center.
A failover operation has taken place, and VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager and FalconStor enable recovery of IT operations at the remote disaster recovery (DR) site. The cause of the failure at the primary data center has been resolved, and FalconStor NSS has resumed remote data protection (replication) in the reverse direction.
Now FalconStor will enable vCenter failback, or resumption of IT operations at the original, primary data center. This is a critical function of a comprehensive DR solution, as most failures are short-term in nature, and the majority of IT investments are at the primary data center.
FalconStor is the only VMware partner that allows heterogeneous remote replication between data centers in VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager environments. That is, customers can use any storage arrays, from any vendor, at either location.

Today’s businesses are embracing VMware virtualization technology to enhance the efficiency of their IT operations. While virtualization brings numerous significant benefits, it also creates unique challenges with regards to data backup, protection, and recovery. Traditional application-based backup falters when faced with five or ten virtualized servers on a single physical machine. Backup mechanisms such as VMware Consolidated Backup are a step in the right direction, but are still limited in terms of performance and recovery.
FalconStor Product Marketing Manager, Peter Eicher, discusses virtualization backup challenges and introduces you to a full set of tools from FalconStor built specifically to protect and recover data in VMware environments. This session will cover:
* Limitations of current VMware backup models
* Intelligent iSCSI or Fibre Channel (FC)-based virtualization for heterogeneous storage
* Enhancing VMware backup with host-free snapshot technology
* Achieving 100% data integrity of application-aware backup images
* Accelerating VMware Consolidated Backup
* Site Recovery Manager integration for WAN-optimized disaster recovery (DR)

Bowdoin College is using VMware Infrastructure 3 for enhanced manageability and business continuity for their IT services.
Partnering with Loyola Marymount University in California, Bowdoin has architected an innovative disaster recovery process leveraging the power of virtualization, to allow Bowdoin and Loyola to maintain copies of their virtual infrastructure at each other’s datacenter, in the case of the emergency.
This allows the colleges to enjoy the security benefits of having a strong disaster recovery plan, without the extraordinary cost of maintaining a warm disaster recovery site.

This post video you through the provisioning of a virtual machine from the template created in Part 1. Templates are not required but if you ever have to create more than one virtual machine you can certainly save a lot of time by just cloning that first install to a template and then provisioning new VMs from it when required. In addition to provisioning the VM, we will also prepare the host for our Agile PLM installation.
